New website for fabulous Lake District holiday accommodation on a private estate.
Architect designed holiday accommodation on a private 500 acre Lakeland estate in the Lake District. The six 'Lakesteads' are exquisitely furnished and spacious 5 star holiday lets, and there is also a 4 bedroom barn conversion offering accommodation that is a class apart. The name derives from the tarn which is the jewel in the crown of the estate, and is frequented by otters.
The client was looking for a local designer to get involved with creating a great website experience. The main criteria was to maintain the current branding in the site design and deliver a site that showcased the very special qualities and features of the holiday properties.
To this end I was treated to an extensive tour of the Lakesteads, Mungeon Barn, and the whole of the estate where I got to meet the resident herd of Belted Galloway cattle.
I designed a visual based around their logo, and based on the information I had assimilated during the tour, I wrote a large amount of the introductory copy, merging it where I could with the notes they provided.
I also had over 1,000 photos to sift through and sort, so every page was treated to its own selection of photos with image slider on many of them.
The property pages included photo galleries so a static image was used in the header.
They didn't want to use an online booking system but we did incorporate a separate availability calendar.
I liaised with the client for further information as we went along. I was particularly looking for ways to differentiate the Lakesteads, which were generally all very similar in construction, but each had a special painting commissioned for them. We used these images to introduce each property.
