Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I get an error message when trying to log in: "The most recent request was denied because it contained an invalid security token. Please refresh the page and try again".
How can I decide if I need a Content Management System?
There are 2 things that can help you decide. One is you yourself, if you are fairly confident in your technical ability and are the kind of person who likes to be in control, then a CMS will suit you down to the ground. The other is the website itself: do you have grand plans for expanding the site and adding lots of features and bells and whistles? Then a CMS would be ideal. The larger the site is planned to be, the easier the maintenance will be with a CMS. If you just want a small site with occasional updates, then it will work out cheaper to have a regular HTML website and pay your designer for updates.
Can we change our Content Management System if we don't like it?
Your website is actually built as part of your CMS so the only way to change to another system would be to strip out the content and rebuild the site in another system.
What Content Management System do you use?
We use Joomla Open Source CMS, one of the best established CMS applications available.
Are there any alternatives?
Yes, there is also Wordpress, which is a blogging system that can also be used as a CMS. Also non technical users can edit ordinary HTML websites using an HTML editor designed for this purpose.
There is a padlock on the Joomla article I want to edit and it won't let me open it, what do I do?
This can happen when you fail to log out of Admin or the system times out while you have an article or module open for editing. Select the article by checking its checkbox and click the Checkin button, or click the padlock itself, to release it.
