Using Email filters to Block spam

Setting up email filters

Setting up email filters to eliminate persistent spam emails can be done in your Control Panel

From the Tools options in cPanel select Email Filters if you want this rule to apply to a single email account, then choose Manage Filter for that email account, or Global Email Filters if you want the rule to apply to all email addresses.

Click Create Filter:

create filter

Give the filter a unique filter name. Keep it simple.

Then enter settings for your filter rule. To do this check the spam email you want to block and choose a word or phrase that would be unique to that spam submission. This is important as if you choose a word that could appear in that field on a genuine email, that would also be blocked.

You are most likely to choose something from the From field, the Subject field or the body of the email. The first two are generally the safest choice. For the example below I chose to ban submissions containing the phrase "Translator #1' in the From field

From the Actions selection you can choose how you want the filter to handle these emails. Choose to Discard Message to prevent the email being delivered to you.

Once the email filter has been created it will appear in your filter list, where you can choose to Edit or Delete it any time.
