Lakeland Web Design is a sole tradership in the Lake District Cumbria, owned and managed by Jennie Dawson since its inception. Jennie has been designing web sites since 2001, at which time she was freelancing almost full time with a busy holiday company in Lancaster where she was responsible for all their publicity, brochure and advert design. She enrolled on a web design course in 2001 for the purpose of creating the company's first web site.
By the time she had completed the course she undertook her first commercial web design project, designing a new website for a major shopping centre in Kendal. She then worked as a full time web designer for over a year at a large internet company in Lancaster. After she was made redundant due to department closures, she began to concentrate more fully on developing her business, adding Lakeland Web Design to her branding concept and existing company Think Graphics, whilst holding a part-time position managing several large retail web sites for an IT Company in Kirkby Lonsdale and teaching a web design course at a local adult education centre. She also began studies with the Open University during this period.
Eventually she returned to full time self-employment in 2008 and made the decision to focus completely on her web design business. Since then the business has grown and expanded in leaps and bounds. Jennie's sincere and whole-hearted commitment to her work is quickly recognised by clients who continue to recommend new customers to her on a regular basis.
Jennie has completed her studies with the Open University and holds a Certificate in Web Applications and Development. She strives continuously to improve her knowledge and experience of all aspects of web design in order to offer a fully rounded service to her customers. She also has a Combined Honours degree in French & Modern Greek.
She has considerable working experience in publishing, which includes academic publishing, book publishing and technical publishing. She has worked on foreign translations in various languages for a Swedish technical publishing company and before moving to the Lake District she worked full time in arts marketing at a major UK Arts Centre. All this means that she can offer an above average skill set resulting in better products and services to you, the customer.
